WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A family court judge in New Zealand has had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names here, and did something about it.
Just ask Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. He had her renamed. Judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed, he said in a ruling made public Thursday. The girl was involved in a custody battle, he said.The new name was not made public to protect the girl's privacy. "The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child's parents have shown in choosing this name," he wrote. "It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily."
The girl had been so embarrassed at the name that she had never told her closest friends what it was. She told people to call her "K" instead, the girl's lawyer, Colleen MacLeod, told the court.
In his ruling, Murfitt cited a list of the unfortunate names.
Registration officials blocked some names, including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit, he said. But others were allowed, including "Number 16 Bus Shelter "and tragically, Violence," he said.
New Zealand law does not allow names that would cause offense to a reasonable person, among other conditions, said Brian Clarke, the registrar general of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Clarke said officials usually talked to parents who proposed unusual names to convince them about the potential for embarrassment.

Got to opporunity chill with buddies bowtuck, wes and ewz in the past 2 weeks. Which was great -we enjoyed ourselves on the first meeting and went thru defaecation together on the second. Must say defaecation, its more polite what.

Dark knight was worth the money and it was quite different from the other comic hero movies. liked the unexpected stuff and the darker mood of the movie. Kayy, not gg to spoiler here as I'm having sm sort of brainfreeze now. must be the work overload =X anw we were swayded enough to get seats right at the front which were positioned at a silly and ridiculous angle. It was one of the quickest ways to get backache unless yr eyes grew on top of your head. fortunately, sm didnt turn up and we got the backseats instead. just had to wait for a while.

Went to bowtuck's aunt's hse last week to mug and wasnt v productive, considering that I was mentally drained from doing my dreaded GP essay in the morning. and we naturally we started to get restless towards the end. breaking point le so EWZ started to shriek and disturb me, provoking a retaliation. and we played with the weird massage and exercise machines in the hse.

I seriously need a break-sick of school (SOS). When ppl start skipping lessons or wishing they could be slightly sick so that they can be exempted from school but not sick to the point of not being able to study, when ppl start getting dark circles around the eyes, or drift off to dreamland during tests, or even turn their sleeping cycles upside down-something is seriously WRONG here. Pressure is only useful if students don't burn out from it. Hopefully, the school would be receptive enough to feedback and sensitive enough to the needs of the students in the future. We all are learning from change and it is crucial to try and put new pieces of knowledge to good use; it is only right for the school to suscribe to such an ethos. Of course, I agree that radical change would certainly be debilitating rather than beneficial. After all, I cannot guarantee that I would be completely right on particular views. Yet, it won't asking too much if more effort is put into REVIEWING current policies. good luck to next yr's J1s!
